My lifelong dream of becoming a teacher led me to UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Education. After graduating, I found my footing in education as a middle school social studies teacher in Carrboro, North Carolina. An adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors brought my husband, black lab, and me to Bozeman, Montana where I taught at Cottonwood Day School, a small elementary school for students with learning differences.
When we returned to North Carolina, I became a reading specialist before transitioning into my most recent role as a learning specialist at Triangle Day School, an independent Pre-K through 8th grade school in Durham. During this time, I also gained my proudest title of mom to my daughter Gray.
Through these experiences and a decade of private tutoring, I discovered the detrimental impact to students’ self-esteem and academic success when their needs are not met, and the profoundly positive transformation that occurs when they are. This deepened my resolve to nurture students’ unique learning styles, implement effective solutions to educational challenges, and guide caregivers in the effort for academic success. My commitment to this goal and transition to Greensboro inspired me to start Liddy Stewart Academic Services.
